It is a great amigurumi project for beginners or anyone wanting a quick project to help celebrate this special occasion. You can make one or an entire family! Go crazy and just enjoy the serenity of crocheting this easy mini Easter bunny before the celebrations begin!

You can easily adjust the size of the mini bunny by changing the crochet hook size 🙂
The blue bunny was crocheted using a 3.5mm hook and the pink bunny used a 4mm hook.

Abbreviations:

Ch – Chain
st (sts) – stitch (stitches)
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Sc – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet
Sc Dec – Single Crochet Decrease (crochet 2tog)

The pattern for the bunny uses US terminology

What you’ll need:

  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • White yarn – acrylic
  • Coloured yarn – acrylic
  • Black yarn – acrylic for eyes and feet
  • Fibrefill, stuffing
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors
  • Yarn needle

Body:

The pattern for the body will be worked in continuous rows. Use a stitch marker to mark each row.

Create a magic ring

Row 1:  6 sc in magic ring
Row 2:  2 sc in each st around (inc)   (12 sts)
Row 3:  *Sc, 2 sc in the next st (inc)*   (18 sts)
Row 4:  *Sc 2, 2 sc in the next st (inc)*   (24 sts)
Row 5-6:  Sc around (24 sts)
Row 7:  *Sc 3, 2 sc in the next st (inc)* (30 sts)
Row 8-14:  Sc 30 (30 sts)
Row 15: *Sc 2, dec 1* around (24 sts)
Row 16:  *Sc 1, dec 1* around (forming the bottom of bunny) (16 sts)
Row 17:  Sc 16 (16 sts)
Stuff the body of the bunny, until it holds its shape.
Row 18: *Sc Dec* (8 sts), sew the hole closed.

Ears:

Make the 2 colored ones first, then make the 2 white ones. Do not fasten off after the last row of the white because you need to join the colored and white ears together.

Ch 11

Row 1: 1 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in the 3rd ch from hook, hdc in the next 4 ch, sc in the next 3 ch, 4 sc in end ch.
Now work along the other side of the ch, with 2 sc, 4 hdc, 2 sc, and 1 sc in the end ch. Fasten off with the colored ear only. Repeat this for the white ear, but do not fasten off.

Row 2: For white only. Put a colored and white ear together, wrong sides facing each other, continue with white working with both the white and colored section and stitch through both pieces at the same time. 1 ch, 11 sc, ch 2, 12 sc in following stitches.

Row 3: Ch1, Sc around in every stitch. Join with a slip stitch to finish.  Finish off and leave a long enough tail to stitch to the body.

Note: The ch2 helps to form a flat base to sew onto the body.

Feet:

The pattern for the feet will be worked in continuous rows. Use a stitch marker to mark each row.

Create a magic ring
Row 1: 6 sc in magic ring (6 sts)
Row 2: 2c in each st around (inc) (12 sts)
Row 3-7: Sc around (12 sts)
Row 8: *Sc 2, dec 1* (9 sts)
Row 9: Sc around (9 sts)
Row 10: *Sc 1, dec 1* (6 sts)
Sl st, fasten off and leave a long enough tail to sew.

Tail:

Make pompom by wrapping the colored yarn around 3 fingers multiple times until you reach your desired thickness, and using a loose strand of the same color, tie it around the center to secure it, then cut through all the loops. Trim the pompom until you get a clean shape.

Sewing the parts together:

Add eyes between rows 6&7 about 2cm apart.
Sew ears onto top of the body which is the first few rows.
Sew feet onto the bottom of the body, starting from the back.
Sew tail on the back of the body as a counterweight to allow the bunny to sit up.
