Crochet Snugly Textured Chunky Wrist Warmers
These Snugly Textured Chunky Wrist Warmers are perfect for keeping your hands nice and warm, even if your fingers aren’t fully covered. The wrist warmers have a lovely textured sc/dc pattern which makes them unique and gorgeous, and with the many colours to choose from by Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn, you definitely won’t have a problem making and wearing one for each outfit.
The Snugly Textured Chunky Wrist Warmers are the perfect 1/2 skein project and they are super quick to crochet. You should have plenty of leftover yarn to make the matching ear warmers so make sure you keep the leftover yarn from this project. The only factors that you need to take into account are how much yarn you use for the ear warmer, or how long you want your wrist warmers to be. I really enjoyed being able to design a crochet project that was so much faster than all the wraps/ shawls and scarfs that I have been crocheting lately. I truly hope you enjoy the free pattern below.

Make 2 wrist warmers the same size
Chain in multiples of 2 until the ch can almost be wrapped around the largest part of your hand (I chained 12), join with a sl st to last ch from hook to make a circle.
Round 1: Ch 2 (acts as 1st dc), sk 1st st and sc 1 into 2nd st, *dc 1 into next st, sc 1 into next st*, rep * to * around, ending with 1 sc. Sl st to top of ch 2 to finish the round.
Round 2: Ch 2 (acts as 1st dc), sk 1st st and sc 1 into 2nd st, *dc 1 into next st, sc 1 into next st*, rep * to * around, ending with 1 sc. Sl st to top of ch 2 to finish the round.
Repeat round 2 until you are happy with the length of your wrist warmer and then move onto the thumb hole round to continue with the pattern. For my wrist warmers, the thumb hole was round 7.
Thumb hole round
After you have your desired length, you need to:
Ch 2 (acts as 1st dc), sk 1st st and sc 1 into 2nd st, dc 1 into 3rd st, sc 1 into 4th st, *ch 1, sk 1 st, sc 1 into next st (created a thumb hole)*, *dc 1 into next st, sc 1 into next st*, rep * to * around, ending with 1 sc. Sl st to top of ch 2 to finish the round.
Finishing the wrist warmers
For the last round, you need to:
Ch 2 (acts as 1st dc), sk 1st st, sc 1 into 2nd st, dc 1 into 3rd st, sc 1 into 4th st, dc 1 into ch-1 sp, *sc 1 into next st, dc 1 into next st*, rep * to * around, ending with 1 sc. Sl st to top of ch 2 to finish the round.
Secure your work when you are happy with the size and weave in all ends. All you need to do is repeat the same pattern for the second wrist warmer, making sure that they are the same size.
Now you are ready to wear these gorgeous crochet snugly textured chunky wrist warmers!
Example: For my finished wrist warmer, I needed to do a total of 8 rows (row 7 was the thumb hole) to get the length of 15 cm / 6″ and circumference of 22 cm/ 8 1/2″.
NOTE: Make sure you save the remaining yarn to crochet the matching ear warmer!
– This wrist warmer is worked in rounds of single crochet and double crochet to make the textured sc/dc pattern.
– Each round is alternating between dc and sc, always beginning with a ch 2 and ending with 1 sc.
– With this pattern, the dc’s are worked in the stitch with the previous rounds dc, and the sc’s are worked in the stitch with the previous rounds sc. The same stitches are stacked on top of each other every round.
– The chain 2 at the beginning of each row does count as a stitch, it is the 1st dc.
– To change the circumference of the wrist warmer, chain in multiples of 2 until the chain can almost be wrapped around the largest part of your hand (i.e I chained 12 and then joined my work).
– To make the wrist warmer longer, repeat round 2 until you are happy with where it sits along your arm. You will need more yarn so please keep that in mind.
